Mrs. Josephine Sawatis, 75, of St. Regis Island, died Saturday morning at her home on the island. She had long been in failing health. The body was taken to the home of a son, Joseph Sawatis, in St. Regis. The funeral was held Tuesday morning at ten in the St. Regis Catholic church, with
Rev. Michael Jacobs, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Surviving Mrs. Sawatis are four sons, Andrew, George, Paul and Joseph Sawatis, all of St. Regis; four daughters, Mrs. Fred (Anna) Oman, Saranac Lake; Mrs. Margaret Mitchell, St. Regis, Mrs. Cecelia Mitchell, and Mrs. Roby (Mary Ann) Rowe, both of Syracuse. Mrs. Sawatis was born July 21, 1876 in St. Regis, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jackson. She was married to Andrew Sawatis who died in September, 1941.
