Mrs. Charles Cavanaugh, a resident Lincoln township, Blackhawk county, for the past third of a century or longer, passed away Friday night after an illness of short duration. She and her husband came to this country from Rockford , Illinois about thirty-five years ago. They bought a large tract of land and are considered among the most wealthy farmers of the county, having 800 or 900 acres of fine, fertile land. Mrs. Cavanaugh was the mother of seven children—five boys and two girls, all living. The boys are Will, Joe, James, Chris, and Pat. All live hereabouts except Will, who resides in Sioux county. The daughters are Mrs. John McKenna and another married lady living near Dubuque. Mrs. Cavanaugh was a lady who was highly esteemed by all who knew her and was a devoted member of the Catholic church, under the auspices of which the funeral was held Monday and burial was in the Blessing cemetery.
