Born in Voyer, Lorraine, France. He was one of twelve children of Francois and Mariane Ecker Aime. Only two of the children survive, Josephine and Leonie, both of Voyer.

Came to America in 1872 and located in Batavia. Then he went to Huntsville, Alabama for about a year, then going to New York City to learn the tailoring trade. After that he went to Buffalo for a year. In 1876 he came to Perry and engaged in the tailoring business.

September 8, 1880 he married Miss Catherine Bourg of Buffalo.

Survived by his wife; two children, Mrs. Lee H. Cotton of White Plains and Frank L. of New York City; two sisters.
