S. Oliver "Bud" Tobias, age 81 of Elwood, died Friday, May 10, 2013 surrounded by his family at his residence following a brief illness. He was born on November 18, 1931 in Madison County, the son of Verl and Hazel (Hogwood) Tobias. Bud was a Farmer and Heavy Equipment Operator all of his life, and retired in 1993. He served his country for 2 years in the U.S. Army stationed in Korea during the Korean War. He married Wilda M. Graff on April 2, 1954. Bud was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local #103; the Marion Masonic Lodge where he achieved the level of 32nd Degree Mason; and formerly the Shriners Club. He was also a member of the Fairmount American Legion and formerly the Moose Lodge. Bud was an avid college basketball fan, and especially enjoyed spending the winter months at his home in Apache Junction, Arizona. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and provider for this family. He will be remembered for being a very hard-working individual who truly enjoyed farming.

Bud's family includes his wife of 59 years, Wilda M. (Graff) Tobias of Elwood; 2 daughters, Sherry (husband Mick) Everling of Swayzee and Bonnie (husband William) Spears of Sharpsville; Son, Rod (wife Anita) Tobias of Elwood; 5 grandchildren, Amy (husband Jeff) Moore, Skyler Tobias, Kyle Tobias, Toby Everling, and Kurt Tobias; 4 great-grandchildren, Jalyn Moore, Ashlyn Moore, Madelyn Moore, and Jebediah Moore; 2 sisters, Verlena (John) Jones of Monticello and Laura Rich of New Waverly, TX; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 6 siblings, Betty, Ethel, Ollie, Mollie, Charles, and Clifford.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Jim Stinger officiating. Burial will follow in Knox Chapel Cemetery in Grant County, and will include full military honors by the U.S. Military and the V.F.W. & American Legion Honor Guard. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 8 PM on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the funeral home. There will be a Masonic Memorial service at 7:00 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home
