MERIDEN - Addie Nell Martin, 77, of Sherman Ave., died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009 at MidState Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born in McComb, Miss., on Sept. 7, 1932, she was the daughter of the late David and Ruby (Brown) Martin. She graduated from the McComb High School in Mississippi and had resided in Meriden for over 40 years. She was a parishioner of the Mt. Hebron Baptist Church and a member of the Meriden/Wallingford NAACP.

She is survived by a sister, Dorothy Cooper, of Meriden; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, David Martin, Hilton Martin and Othey Martin; and a sister, Catheryn Jones.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 10 a.m. at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, 84 Franklin Ave., Meriden, with the Rev. Dr. Willie Young officiating. Friends may call at the church from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice or to Mt Hebron Baptist Church Scholarship Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden.
