WHITWELL Dora Elizabeth Newcomb Keener, 86, of Louisville, Ky., formerly of Whitwell, departed this life and went on to eternal life with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, May 13, 2013.Dora was a loving woman who worked side by side with her husband as they ministered to churches in Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee. She played the piano, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She loved Mission work and was involved in Womens Missionary programs throughout the years.She was preceded in death by her husband, James Paul Keener Sr.; her son, William Roy "W.R." Keener; her infant grandchild, Violet Keener; her parents, William W. and Flora Newcomb; and siblings, William "Buddy" Newcomb, Barbara Davis and Randy Newcomb.Left to cherish her memory are her children, James Paul (Sarah) Keener Jr., Helen (Tom) Russell, Gracie (Bill) Fultz, David (Karen) Keener, Daniel (Deborah) Keener; and daughter-in-law, Wanda Keener; her siblings, Joan Ellison, Callie Jones, James Newcomb, Sarah Hildebrant, Helen (George) Swain and Rebecca (Jerry) Tinsley; brother-in-law, George Keener; sisters-in-law, Betty Keener, Geneva Newcomb and Elizabeth Walker, who was her lifelong best friend; 20 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.Family will receive friends 5-9 p.m. today, May 15, 2013; 5-9 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013.Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Whitwell.Interment at Smith Cemetery.
