Funeral services Tuesday morning, with burial in Cooks Mills Cemetery
Mrs. Izella Adams, wife of E. Adams, passed away at 7:35 o'clock on Sunday morning at the family home, 1416 Moultrie avenue.
Mrs. Adams had been ill for about five weeks, suffering from softening of the brain. Her condition had been serious for a week or more.
Funeral services are to be held from the residence at eleven o'clock on Tuesday morning, Rev. JF McMahan in charge. Burial is to be made in Pleasant Grove cemetery at Cooks Mills.
Mrs. Adams was born in Lawrence county, Indiana, on September 28, 1855. When a girl of twelve years she came to Illinois with her parents, Mr and Mrs John Prince, settling near Toledo, in Cumberland county. About five years later, on the death of her mother, she came to Coles county to make her home with her sister, Mrs. John Wilson, at Cooks Mills. In December 1874, she became the wife of Mr. Adams, the ceremony being performed at Cooks Mills. Mr and Mrs Adams lived on a farm near Cooks Mills until about thirty years ago, when they came to mattoon, since then having resided continuously at the home where she passed away.
Mrs. Adams was the mother of seven children, four now surviving. They are Fred Adams of Indianapolis, WF Adams of Clinton, Mrs. Dan Koessler and Mrs. PG Cox of this city.
There are also four grandchildren and one great grandchild, Dan, son of Mr and Mrs Robert Irons, and three sisters, Mrs. Jane Prince of Toledo, Mrs. Morris Smith of Chandler, Ok., and Mrs. John Wilson of this city.
Mrs. Adams became a member of the Baptist Church at Cooks Mills when eighteen years of age, and when she came to this city she became affiliated with the Christian Church.
She had been active in its affairs until her health began to fail.
