Lieutenant Cook Killed On Luzon

The War Department informed Mrs. Myrtle Cook of Rural Route One Elwood, by telegram that her son, Second Lieutenant Clarence E. Cook, was killed in action on Luzon, April 27. The lieutenant was previously reported missing in action. The official report of his death was received last evening. Lt Cook was a pilot of a P-38 attached to the 26th Photo Reconnaissance squadron. He was a graduate of the Windfall high school and prior to his induction into the air corps was employed at the Delco Remy Division in Anderson. He had been in service since February, 1942, and received his wings and commission at Mather Field, Sacramento, California, September 8, 1944. On February 17, 1945, he was transferred overseas. Surviving Lt. Cook, besides his mother are his widow Mrs. Olive Cook of Muncie and one brother, Donald Cook of Elwood.
