Son and heir of Sir William Moleyns and his wife, Margery. Grandson of Sir Richard de Moleyns and Eleanor de Beaumont, direct descendant of Saher de Quincy and Margaret de Beaumont.

First husband of Anne Whalesborough, daughter of Sir John Whalesborough of Whalesborough, Cornwall and Joan Raleigh, daughter of Sir John Raleigh. They were married 01 May 1423 at Ewelme, Oxford, and had two daughters; Eleanor and Frideswide.

Sir William was killed at the Siege or Orleans in 1429. Anne would marry Sir Edmund Hampden about 1442.
