Jack D. Alexander, 76, of Pleasant Grove passed away Thursday, May 7, 1998 at his home after a ten year battle with heart disease.
He was born April 3, 1922 in Vernal, Utah to Alva A. and Mary Etta Clark Alexander. He married Betty Jo Beveridge May 9, 1947 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He grew up in Vernal and attended schools there graduating from Uintah High School in 1940. He served with his four brothers in the U. S. Army and was a master sergeant in the 1071 signal corp in the European Theater during WWII.
He worked at Geneva Steel for 31 years retiring in 1977. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to work in his garden and devoted most of his time and energy to his family. He was a member of the LDS church and was an avid supporter and advisor in the scouting program.
He his survived by his wife of Pleasant Grove and three sons and one daughter: Brent D. (Patty) Alexander, American Fork; Susan (Eric) Halverson, Pleasant Grove; Cal (Deborah) Alexander, American Fork; Lynn Alexander, Draper; 7 grandchildren. Additional survivors include a sister and brother: Lois Nelson, Yuma, Arizona and Bert Alexander, St. George, formerly of American Fork.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 13, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Old Pleasant Grove Third Ward Chapel, 200 North 400 East, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Military Rite will be conducted by District IV of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
