Poet. At 21 he received the "Initiation prize", of the National Commission of Culture, for his first book of poems. Among his works are: "Esta luz donde habitas" (1948, Honor girdle SADE); "La música extremada" (1952); "Conocimiento de la alegría" (1955); "La vida de siempre" (1958), third national award Poetry 1958 to 1960; "Los días usurpados" (1964); "Poesía inminente" (1968); "Para vivir, para morir" (1969) –with the latter two won the second prize of national-Poetry-; "Poetas italianos del siglo XX" (1972); "El gusto de la vida" (1974) and "Recreos del tiempo" (1978 national Poetry prize). He was awarded the Platinum Konex in 1984. He also edited "Antología esencial de la poesía argentina" (1981); "Poesía elegida"(1985); "En la sangre del día" (1988); "Antología de poesía italiana contemporánea" (1994, Unesco); "Antología poética" (1996); and "Imágenes de Eugenio Montale" (2002).
In 1986 he was appointed Fellow of the Academia Argentina de Letras.
