He was born on March 14, 1927 in Minden City, son of the late John and Alma McCoy, the 14th of 15 children. He was married to Sara Mae Russell on August 23, 1947. She passed away on December 29, 2011.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II stationed in Guam. He worked for Michigan Bell Telephone until his retirement in 1982, and was a life member of the Charles Schoor VFW 796.
He is survived by his children: Marianne (Jerry) Schock, Julie (Tim) MacRury, Patrick McCoy and Susan Williams; 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a cherished nephew, Larry McCoy. He is also survived by his sisters, Helen Bennett, Mary (Ed) Swigert and brothers, Joe (Gloria), Richard (Bertha) and Frank (Lorianne) McCoy.
A Veterans Service will be held 1:00 p.m. December 29th at the Veterans Columbarium. A Celebration of Life will be held following at 2:00 p.m. at Charles Schoor Post 796, 1711 Pine Grove Ave. St. Clair Allied Veterans will conduct Military Honors.
