It has no dates on it but I am sure it is hers and this is why. My Dads Father Andy Fox died (1915) when Dad was 16 so he didn't know much about his family other than his Dad was part Cherokee. on his Mothers side. That would be my Martha Fox.I have done a lot of research around Creek County and Tulsa and north of there but to no avail. My Grandfather Andrew (Andy) Johnson Fox and his brother Marion Pinkney Fox (Dad always called him Uncle Pink & I can't find his grave either he died about 1919/1925 & worked in the oil fields so he could me anywhere & probably had no stone because he died alone I am sure. He lived with my parents when they were married but when Dad & Mon had to move to Colorado because of my baby brothers health (he died on the train as they pulled in to the station) Pink stayed working in the fields in Ok. My parents moved back about 1825 & Pink had died shortly before then. Anyway Andy & Pink brought their Mother Martha Fox down from Bronson County Kansas, she was sick and thinking going south would be good for her & as far as I can tell she died between 1888-1896) Andy had worked for Chisholm on the Chisholm Trail and was a teamster and would run supplies from Fort Scott Kansas down to Kingfisher, He spoke both Cherokee and English so often got through when others could not. I think Kingfisher was the Capital then or was preparing to be. Since this grave is in that vicinity I am thinking that it really could be her. If he was running a team to there it seems logical that the boys would set up camp at the other end of the line so she could be in less harsh weather. Dad remembered his dad saying that he and Pink make a headstone for their mother because money was scarce. It looks like sandstone & definitely hand carved by someone who had not done a lot of it. So It is definitely a possibility. I wonder if anyone could date the stone for us?
