Born at Bellymena, County Antrin, Ireland, Nov 10, 1869, the eldest of a family of 12 children, he came to America when 23 years of age and was employed in the shipyards at Newburg N.Y.
He married Mary Kenny, former schoolmate, at Manchester in 1903 and they engaged in farming in Marchall county for 9 years. After spending two years at Buffalo Center they came to Delaware county and settled on a farm east of Hopkinton, where the home was made until five years ago.
They were the parents of three children, Mrs. Lamont died on June 11, 1947. On Aug 27, 1949, he married Emma Good Mattheson and they have made their home in Monticello.
