Mrs. Frances Hedergott Trares, wife of Henry Trares, former president of the Palace Store Company and former chairman of board of directors of the Bank of Edwardsville, died at the family residence at 424 East Vandalia street, here, at 8:45 o'clock last night. Death was attributed to a paralytic stroke suffered ten days ago, followed by several lesser strokes since. Mrs. Trares had been ailing for about five years, suffering diabetes.
Mrs. Trares was born at Olenberg, south of Wood River, on November 20, 1858, a daughter of Jacob and Dorothy Hedergott. She attended country schools until about 12 years of age, when her parents moved to Edwardsville, after which she entered a boarding school at Highland, where she completed her education. Her father operated a grocery store and a brickyard in Edwardsville.
On May 20, 1879, she was united in marriage with Henry Trares, the union being solemnized at the St. Boniface Catholic Church here. Besides her husband, Mrs. Trares leaves two daughters, Mrs. John A. Keshner, Edwardsville, and Mrs. Bart Franey, Hackensack, N.J.; four sons, Judge Wilbur A., Henry, Roman and Florian, all of this city, and ten grandchildren. Mrs. Trares was one of the organizers of the St. Boniface Ladies Aid and was a member of the Alter Society.
Funeral rites will be conducted Thursday morning, requiem high mass being held at the St. Boniface Catholic Church at 9:30 o'clock. Father Bruning, Alton, will officiate and an Alton choir will sing. Professor Ernest Herzwurm, St. Louis, will accompany at the organ. Interment will be made at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jerome and Hubert Keshner, Clem and Frank Trares, Henry Franey and Paul Hofmeier.
