Benjamine (Ben) F. Lowe, age 64, of rural Dunkirk, IN, lost his battle with COPD at 4:15 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2013, while in the company of family members at his daughter's residence near Redkey. His gallant battle inspired his granddaughter, Autumn, to enroll in Respiratory Therapy School.

Ben was born in Smokey Junction Community, TN on December 19, 1948, a son of the late Cynthia (Patterson) and Henry Lowe.

He was a retired Batch House Operator at St. Gobain Glass Co., Dunkirk, IN, 47336, where he was a member of Local 96. He was the husband of Linda Jane (Wise) Lowe.

Ben spent the last days of his life with his greatest treasures, his loving wife, Linda, and his adoring family. He was an avid hunter and mechanic enjoying working on cars with grandson, Garrett and talking to all his CB family on the CB Radio where he was known as "Ridge Runner," and all of his trips to Tennessee with his family. Ben was also a wonderful story teller and jokester.

He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia, wife of Mike Shepherd, of Redkey, IN; Debra, wife of Paul White of Albany, IN; two stepdaughters, Julie, wife of Rex Lloyd of Muncie, IN, Mary Smitley of Dunkirk, IN; eight grandchildren, Autumn Shepherd, Garrett Shepherd, Kalib White, Topanga White, Tyler Lennington, Elijah Davis, Heather Crouch and Desiree Brown; a very special great grandchild, Kynleigh Maine Folkereth; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth, wife of L.B. Crabtree of Huntsville, TN, Mary, wife of Danny Smithers of Somerset, KY; six brothers, Moses, husband of Mae Lowe of Smokey Junction, TN, Delford, husband of Beatrice Lowe of Smokey Junction, TN, Kenny Lowe of Huntsville, TN, Aaron, husband of Judy Lowe of Monterey, TN, Silas, husband of Billie Lowe, of Resaca, GA, Paul Lowe of Oneida, TN

Besides his parents, Ben was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred Lowe, John Lowe, Ray Lowe and one sister, Easter Lowe.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at M J S Mortuaries Redkey Chapel, Redkey, IN, with Pastor Randy Davis officiating. Graveside services will follow in Center Cemetery Portland, IN.

Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm Friday, May 17, 2013, at MJS Mortuaries Redkey Chapel.
