The name Kvernrud is derived from Norwegian *Qværnerud* (Millfield), and has many spellings in the USA. Kari died in Spring Grove on Christmas day, 1891. She was the mother of the Peder mentioned in the document, not his wife. He died in 1903 and was also buried in Spring Grove.
