FUNERAL OF MRS. GATES THURSDAY

Mrs. Virginia Orton Gates, wife of Marshall D. Gates of 317 Pekin st., died at 2:45 p.m. Monday in Abraham Lincoln Memorial hospital.
The body is a Holland and Barry Funeral Home and friends may call there Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday from Trinity Episcopal church with the Rev. William E. Berger officiating. Burial will be in Union cemetery.
The deceased was born in Lincoln, Oct. 23, 1884, the daughter of Franklin C. and Caroline Rutledge Orton. She was married to Marshall D. Gates in Lincoln Dec. 28, 1911, and he survives as do a daughter, Mrs. Mary Gray of Baton Rouge, La., a son, Dr. Marshall Gates of Rochester, N.Y., two brothers, Col. William Orton of Vista, Calif., and Louis of Anchorage, Alaska; and six grandchildren. Three brothers preceded her in death
Mrs. Gates was a member of Trinity Episcopal church, the Daughters of the King, the Art and Travel Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member and past president of Lincoln Woman's club.
