Gookins lived in the Napoleon area for 50 years. She was a member of the Ladies Aid of St. Johns', the Worth While Home Ec Club, and the Eastern Star of Osgood and Versailles. She worked at Real-Silk in Indianapolis before moving to Napoleon.
Gookins was born in Warren County, Sept. 3, 1905, the daughter of Charles and Letita Horn Booth. She married Ralph Gookins, July 22, 1934, and he preceded her in death, June 13, 1969.
Survivors include two sons, Henry Gookins, Indianapolis, and Stephen Gookins, Osgood; one daughter, Mrs. Letita (Tish) Cole, Skiatook, Okla.; three brothers, Edgar Booth, Indianapolis, Vernon Booth, Knoxville, Tenn., and Kenneth Booth, West Palm Beach, Fla.; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Richard Rector officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Nead and Clark Funeral Home in Osgood from 3 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday.
The family requests memorials go to the St. John's Lutheran Church.
