Boughey, Benjamin, for many years a resident of this vicinity, died at his home in Fernwood, a suburb of Traverse City, Mich. on May 22, age 73 years, 7 months and 8 days. He was born in Vermilion, Erie County, Ohio, Sept 14, 1828, where he resided until after his father's death. He moved from here to Traverse City in 1891, where he continued to reside. He was married three times, first to Eliza Palmer, and 2nd to Mariah Gwynn, who died in 1866. They had 5 children and 3 are still living. On Dec 25, 1867 he married Miss Mary Smith, who is now his widow. They had 7 children, 4 of whom are now living. All the living children reside at Traverse City except for John Elmer who resides on the old farm in Jefferson Twp. and Benjamin Franklin who lives at Fouch, Mich. The others are Quincy Edward, Frederick P., Herbert F., Leonard N. and Sadie R. One brother and 4 sisters survive, Edward Boughey, Mrs. Nancy Demmon and Mrs. Mary Crofoot of this country, Mrs. Caroline Butterfield of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Elizabeth Wheelock of Salt Lake City, Utah. Funeral and interment was a Traverse City.
