Robert D. Stone, 74, of Clark Co., husband of Patty Thomas Stone, passed away on Mon., June 17, 2013 at his home. Mr. Stone was born in Clark County on Feb. 2, 1939 to the late Charles and Bernice Elwanger Stone. He was retired from IBM and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and the Right Angle Masonic Lodge. He was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy where he served as a pilot and on the Navy basketball team.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Robin (David) Goolman of Mt. Sterling; 2 sons, Robert Brian (Sally) Stone and Randy (Sherry) Stone of Winchester; 5 grandchildren, David Jeramy (Amanda) Goolman, Nathan (Alesia) Arlidge, Andrew Stone, Elijah Stone, and Sydney Stone; his great granddaughter, Serena Moore; 4 brothers, Charles Stone, Fred Stone, L.C. Stone, and Daniel Stone; and his sister, Dorothy Slone.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 19 at Scobee Funeral Home by Pastor Randy Stone. Burial will be in the Clarmont Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jack Lee, Frank Fitch, Bobby Moore, Tom Wise, David Jeramy Goolman, Nathan Aldridge, Andrew Stone, Elijah Stone, Gary Nixon, and Dennis Luing.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 18 at Scobee Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice East or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
