Hambone was a mixed breed but mainly black Labrador Retriever dog that the Knight family got from the Cobb County, Georgia animal shelter. He was a lanky "teenager" when we got him, just barely out of puppyhood.

Hambone was a fully loved and loving animal and full-fledged member of the Knight family.

Hambone's signature quirk was "The Hambone Roo-Roo", which was this unearthly howl that he would let loose with a few times a week in the dead of night, all while he was sleeping. This sound started with an exhale like a sigh, then a low moan which got higher pitched and then warbled, finally tapering off in a series of roo-roo-roos.

Hambone developed a brain cancer which caused him to go blind completely, and eventually began causing him overt pain, so we had to put him down. It was one of the toughest days in our family's life.

We buried him in the side yard of our home in Marietta, and planted daffodils around it, with a big soup bone for a headstone.

Thank you, Hambone. We all love you and will forever remember you.
