In the 1880 census George was listed as a merchant. He had a gin and ran the only store in Morris Chapel just past the Morris Chapel Cemetery and before the current fire station in Morris Chapel. George actually sold the land for the Morris Chapel school to be built. He served as postmaster for Morris Chapel from 9/15/1879 until 4/12/1893.
