Services for THOMAS JEFFERSON MOFFETT of Sardis, Tennessee will be conducted by the Rev. J. P. Murphy and the Rev. James Taylor at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Methodist Church in Sardis. Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery with National Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Moffett, who was 92, died at 11:15 a.m. yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. W. Ford, of 1236 Marksman after a long illness. He had been visiting there since November.
Born at Morris Chapel in Hardin County, Tennessee, Mr. Moffett spent most of his life in Sardis, where he was a farmer and merchant. He retired about twelve years ago. He was a Presbyterian.
Mr. Moffett leaves two sons, O. Moffett of Saltillo, Tennessee, and C. W. Moffett of Grass Valley, California; five daughters, Mrs. A. L. Brandon, Mrs. J. A. Rose and Mrs. Ford, all of Memphis, and Mrs. Mary Rice and Mrs. Charley Phillips of Sardis, and two brothers, John Moffett of Stantonville, Tennessee, and Drury Moffett of Childers Hill, Tennessee. ~~~ THE COMMERCIAL APPEAL, Memphis, TN, Jan. 26, 1952, page 18
