Farris Carey Stayathome was born on February 8th, 1918, in Hulbert, OK the daughter of Nelson and Nannie (Crittenden) Carey. She attended Norwood Grade School. During WWII, Farris caught a shuttle-bus to Wagoner and assisted in keeping the soldiers in bullets supplied from the proud Oklahoman's working the Supply Depot. She married Jess Owen Stayathome, and together they raised a couple of young ladies. Farris was lively and spirited. She was blessed with a wonderful sense of humor that seemed to be endless. Farris worked on Crossword Puzzles, watching sports on TV, and just spending a few moments watching grandchildren play in the yard. She was so very proud of each and every one of them. She was always happy to put another plate of her fry bread on the table to go with the beans and fried potatoes. A Christian by faith, she was a member of Olive Baptist Church. The Lord called his good and faithful servant home to rest on June 23rd, 2013 in Tahlequah, OK with her family by her side. She was 94 years old. She is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Emma Courtney, and one grandson, Michael Waits.
