WARD RANDOLPH, 79, DIES IN CLARKSBURG HOSPITAL
Ward Randolph, 79, of Wilsonburg, passed away at 2:35 a.m. on Monday, August 13, in a Clarksburg hospital following an extended illness.
He was born March 8, 1883, in Salem, a son of Lewis Spencer and Margaret Stier Randolph.
Survivors include his widow, Lulu Fittro Randolph; three sons, Kenneth at home; Richard S. of Seattle, Wash., and Eugene M. of Clarksburg; five daughters, Mrs. Ray (Margaret) Drummond of Clarksburg, Miss Bernice and Ellen Randolph, at home, Mrs. Robert (Mary Lou) Hayes of Silver Spgs., Md., Mrs. John (Martha) Runyan of Parkersburg; one brother, Vance E. Randolph of Clarksburg and one sister, Mrs. N. L. (Lulu) Casey of Salem; and 11 grandchildren.
Mr. Randolph was a retired superintendent of the Gladys Coal Company and also an employe of the Washington Gas Company. He also spent several years with the Long Coal Company and during World War I, he served as a member of the U.S. Coal Production Board for the State of West Va.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 15, at 1:30 p.m. The Reverend Loyal Williams, pastor of the Auburn Parish, Auburn, W. Va. and the Reverend D.L. Whitener, retired Baptist minister, officiated and interment was in the O'Neil cemetery.
