OBITUARY: Mrs. Rebecca Kirby died at the home of her son, William Kirby, of Bright's disease, on Friday morning, aged 76 years. She had been feeble for several years and about eighteen months ago had a severe fall, but not until about four weeks ago was she confined to her bed. Mrs. Kirby was born in Delaware, was the widow of the late Mordecai Kirby, and mother of Messrs. William, James, and Stephen Kirby, and Mrs. Sarah E. Gardner. She was the grandmother of thirty-four children and great grandmother of fourteen. Interment in Chester cemetery on Sunday afternoon, Rev. S.C. Roberts officiating. The bearers were: Jas. S. Bradley, Geo. D. Lofland, Thos. D. France, Harry T. Hoyle, John E. Shuser, Wm. T. Matthews. The Chestertown Transcript Mar. 26, 1896.
