Carthage- Norma "Gay" Andress DeLair Putnam, 76, of 39394 NYS Route 26, died Sunday, January 11, 2009 at home under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County. She was born on March 11, 1932 in Watertown to Paul and Margaret Delisle Andress.

She graduated from West Carthage High School. She married Lloyd DeLair on June 23, 1951 at St. Henry's Church. She later married Vincent Putnam in October 1988. She did secretarial work and was employed by Carbola Chemical Co. in Carthage and then she worked for Dr. John Eckleman.

She was a member of the St. James Catholic Church in Carthage; she was a member of the VIP Club at St. James Catholic Church. She loved to volunteer at the Carthage Area Hospital and The Carthage Library. She enjoyed knitting, and reading.

She is survived by several children; a daughter Patricia and her husband Patrick Farmer, Natural Bridge; a daughter, Teresa and her husband Lawrence Perras, New Haven; a daughter, Louise DeLair and her companion Rick Percy, Carthage; a daughter, Carol and her husband Stephen Duggan, Harrisville; a son, John and his wife Darcy DeLair, Natural Bridge; and two step children; Cheryl and her husband Richard Chartrand, Lowville; David and Eileen Putnam. She is also survived by two sisters, Sally and her husband Randy Weed, Palmira; and Mary Jean Simser, Natural Bridge. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by two husbands.

Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 from 7-9pm at the Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home Inc. 500 State Street Carthage. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 11:00AM at The St. James Catholic Church in Carthage, 327 West street, with The Reverend George F. Maroun pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be held in the spring at the Hillside Cemetery, Natural Bridge.
