Mr Buchanan was born in Manti, March 13, 1871, a son of Archibald W. and Mary Ann Buchanan. He moved with his parents to Glenwood, where he spent his youth. He married Ida Brugger of Venice in 1905 in the Manti L. D. S. temple. After his marriage he resided in Venice until 21 years ago when the family moved to Richfield. He is survived by his widow, three sons and two daughters: Ruth Buchanan, Ogden; Mrs. Ethel Shubert, Hillsburo, Ore; Ray H. and Harold Buchanan of Richfield and Phil Buchanan, who is serving in the southern states L. D. S. mission field, and four grandchildren.
Mr. Buchanan was a prominent farmer and livestock man in Sevier county until his health failed. He was active in L. D. S. church activities, having served on a mission from 1900 to 1903 in the southern states and a short term mission in Sevier County. He had worked as a counselor in the Sunday school at Venice and had been president of the M I A and the elders' quorum.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Richfield Third L. D. S. ward chapel Friday at 1 30 p. m. with Bishop Alex Jenson officiating.
Interment will be in the Richfield cemetery under the direction of Warner mortuary.
