Esther W. Von Haden age 77 of River Falls passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at her home.

She was born the daughter of Alfred and Almeda (Eid) Blegen on September 15, 1932 in Gilman Township, Wisconsin.

On October 17, 1964, Esther married Marvin Von Haden. In 1968, the couple started and established the Viking Inn in Viroqua, WI. Esther worked in food service most of her life including employment at River Falls High School and River Falls Hospital. Her work ethic was unmatched. To her sons, she was a good role model, showing them a good heart, hard work and tough love. Until two years ago, Esther was the caretaker at her apartment building. She was also an active member of Ezekiel Lutheran Church.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Almeda; husband, Marvin (1994); brothers, Ray, Arnold and Elroy; sisters, Helen, Evelyn and an infant sister.

She is survived by her five sons, James (Renee) Tatzel, Jack (Pat) Tatzel, Dean (Barb) Tatzel, Al (Mary) Tatzel, Bruce (Rhonda) Von Haden; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Hurtgen, Eloise Adank, Ardis Roth; brother, Minnerd Blegen; and sister-in-law, Joan Blegen. Interment was in Martell Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls obituary
