JOSEPH VALORE
A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph Valore, who was an automobile mechanic and salesman for many years, will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, after prayers at 9:30 in M.J. Colucci & Son Funeral Chapel, 468 19th St.
Entombment will be in the mausoleum in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Valore, 81, of Calvano Drive, Grand Island, and formerly of Niagara Falls, died Wednesday (July 21, 1993) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
A native of Sicily, he moved to Niagara Falls in 1927 and to Grand Island in 1989. He was an airplane mechanic at the Curtiss-Wright plant in Buffalo during World War II. He operated automobile repair businesses for 20 years at various small garages in the Niagara Falls area.
He built Valore's Garage in 1949 at Niagara and 20th streets, and he was the proprietor there for 15 years until 1964. He then became a salesman of automobiles and trucks for dealers in Niagara and Erie counties.
Valore worked at Transitowne Dodge, Mid-City Dodge and Maier-Schule GMC Trucks, all in Erie County, until joining Joe Cecconi's Chrysler Complex in Niagara Falls. He remained in auto and truck sales for 19 years until 1983.
Survivors include his wife, the former Valentina Calvano of Grand Island; a son, Philip A. of Grand Island; and a brother, Angelo.
