NORFOLK - Eloise Long Bell Hartsfield, 97, a lifetime resident of Norfolk and a member of Norfolk First Church of the Nazarene, died June 9, 2011. She passed away peacefully after a long period of gradually failing health. The daughter of Maud Everett and Samuel Long Sr., she retired from the Old Merchants and Planters (Bank of America), where she worked as an officer of the bank for many years. She is survived by a sister, Martha Prince and her husband Nelson of Indiana; a brother, Dr. John M. Long and his wife Luella of Tennessee; nieces and nephews, Margaret Smith and husband Richard of Boise, Idaho, John Wade Brown IV, James C. Brown and wife Ranee, Carolyn Jones, Lynn Monett and husband Bill, Patricia Hall and husband Leroy, Lois Walker and husband Robert, Richard S. Long Jr. and wife Teresa of Dunedin, Fla., Valerie Prince of Clarksville, Ind., Ann Gesunhuse, Naomi Prince of Lafayette, Ind., Samuel C. Long of Shelbyville, Tenn., Leigh Owens of Mantorville, Minn., Paul Long and wife Staci of Eden Prairie, Minn.; and numerous great-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Bell and Tim Hartsfield; a sister, Virginia Daniels; brothers, William E. Long; Samuel Long Jr. and Richard S. Long. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel. The burial will follow in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.
