Thief River Falls - Carol Harbott, 56, died Saturday, October 21, 2000 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Mass of Christian burial was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls with Father Dennis Weiland officiating. Kristi LaSalle was the organist, and special music was provided by the Resurrection Choir. Casketbearers were Loren Pittman, Kyle Miller, Jeff Eckstein, Don Huot, Mike Huot and Mark Bruggeman. Interment was in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery in Thief River Falls. Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Carol Jean Berberich was born on June 12, 1944 in Crookston, the daughter of Leander and Mayme (Asselin) Berberich. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Brooks. She attended elementary school in Brooks and graduated from Plummer High School in 1963.

On December 2, 1972, Carol was united in marriage to Donald Harbott at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Brooks. They made their home in Thief River Falls.

She worked at many Thief River Falls restaurants, including Carol's Cafe and Danny's Pizza. She also worked at Dwight's Hartz and was most recently employed at Northern Pride until forced to retire due to ill health.

Carol was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Eagles Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary.

She enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, curling, Bingo, playing cards and spending time with family, friends and her dog.

Carol is survived by her husband, Donald of Thief River Falls; a daughter, Michelle "Mick" McDonough of Fargo; her mother, Mayme Berberich of Brooks; four brothers, LeRoy Berberich, Linus Berberich Lawrence (Sue) Berberich and John (Stacey) Berberich, all of Brooks; 12 sisters, Marge (Tom) Miller, Loretta (Larry) Pittman and Marlene Harbott, all of Thief River Falls, Claire "Butch" Berberich of Brooks, Alice (Harold Jr.) Balstad and Elaine "Sue" Olson, both of Fosston, Frances "Fritz" Liebl of Mahnomen, Betty (Mark) Lindy and Rita (Kevin) Fenner, both of Bemidji, Kay Aitken (Joe Sharp) of Brooks, Connie Dugstad (Charles Bishop) of Oklee, and Janet Berberich (Rick Koivisto) of Plummer; 32 nieces and nephew; and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father; a niece; two nephews; grandparents, Fred and Margaret Berberich and Onezime and Permelia Asselin; and several brothers-in-law. A00003B2000OC25
