Obituary
Joyce Aamot, 87, of Wendell, died Monday, July 8, 2013, at her home. Oriette "Joyce" was born to George and Gertrude (Ottum) Moe in Pierpont, South Dakota, on May 26, 1926. She was raised and educated in many towns in South Dakota and attended SDSU in Brookings where she earned an education degree in Home Economics. Joyce moved to Wendell with her parents where she met Odell Aamot. They were married on December 11, 1948, in Tea, South Dakota, and the couple made their home in Wendell (a town she loved) raising their three children.

Joyce furthered her education by attending MSUM in Moorhead, Minnesota, and received an education degree in elementary education. She taught kindergarten in the Wendell/Elbow Lake school system.

Some of Joyce's favorite things were quilting, anything to do with music, baking and cooking, having coffee and treats with friends and family, and gardening. Joyce maintained a friendship with a group of college girlfriends and corresponded with them through the "round robin" up until her death. She loved spending time with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.

Surviving Joyce are her children: daughters Barb Tietz of Bismarck and Cathy (Keith) Ward of Moorhead and son Mike (Joyce) of Wendell; her grandchildren Jen (Dan) Polk of Bismarck, Chris Tietz of Seattle, Christine (Chris) Ohlhauser of Bismarck, Kari Ward of Mandan, Dan Aamot of Kirksville, MO, and Joe (Kelsey) Aamot of Hawley; great-grandchildren DJ, Adam, Mason, Callie and Brooke. Other survivors include John (Delores) Moe, Marillyn Beck, Roy and Mignon Randall, Joanie Aamot, and many nieces, nephews and cousins, and all her Trinity Lutheran family.

Preceding her in death are her husband, parents, two sisters, Ida VanWechel and Mary Prothero, brothers-in-law Bud Beck, Dennis Prothero and Hanley Aamot, niece Lori Randall, and two sons-in-law, Mike Morgan and Dewey Tietz.
