Born in Kovno, Lithuania before its independence from Russia, Carl came to Boston in 1906 and filed his first papers there on 21 Sep 1912.
He married Mollie Kaiden on 16 Jun 1912 in Boston, and by 1915 had moved to Kennebunk, Maine where their first child, Benjamin, was born and where the family were residing when Carl filed his petition for naturalization.
He later moved his family to Biddeford, where they permanently settled. A tailor by trade, Carl went into business for himself and became an employer in town.
He and Mollie were the parents of three children: sons Benjamin and Jacob Isaac, and daughter Jeannette (Mrs. Norbert Slosberg).
Carl gave his date of birth as March 7th, 1890 on his naturalization papers, but reported it as March 6th on his World War I draft registration and his Social Security records. His obituary also gave March 6th as his date of birth.
