Dorothy Smith Bowers, 87, of Camp Hill, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013, at her home.
Born in Harrisburg, on December 24, 1925, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Hill Smith.
Dottie was a salesclerk at the former Bowman's Department Store, Harrisburg, but she was most proud of serving with the Harrisburg Auxiliary Police Women during World War II. Dottie was a graduate of the former John Harris High School. She was a former member of First Christian Church, Lemoyne. Dottie enjoyed traveling and shopping.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack H. Bowers, on October 5, 1995; a great grandson, Scott Garis, Jr.; a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Robert Nickols; and a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Evelyn Smith.
Dottie is survived by one son, Harold D. Bowers husband of Leslie of Camp Hill; three granddaughters, Nichole Collins fiancée of Joseph Zito, Tracy Constantine wife of Craig, and Stacy Snyder wife of Andrew; two great grandchildren, Leanna Garis and Thomas Collins; two brothers, Leon Smith husband of Sally of Lemoyne, and Robert Smith wife of Helen of Harrisburg; one sister, Ida Waypa of Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Friday, July 19, 2013, at 11:30 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc. 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. Interment will be in the Hummelstown Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family Friday from 10:30 AM until time of the service.
