Jeanne Carrel Mock

May 28, 1923 - July 12, 2013
Jeanne Carrel Mock, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away on July 12, 2013.

Jeanne was born May 28, 1923 in Jacksonville, Florida to Frank and Myrtle Carrel. She married Martin A. Mock on July 16, 1945, in Richmond, Virginia. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles, CA Temple.

She held administrative and accounting positions for a number of companies, including United Airlines, Zellerback Paper Company, Rains Company and several government agencies. Jeanne's first priority, however, was being a mother and a homemaker. She was known for always being a gracious, caring, and loving companion and listener. She provided a place of sanctuary for many people in her life. Jeanne's concern for family, friends and strangers (including stray animals) was deeply ingrained in her character and personal interactions. She was a champion of the common people and those less fortunate. Jeanne was also known for having a great sense of humor. Well-liked by everyone who knew her, she was a stellar example of southern hospitality all her life.

Jeanne enjoyed dancing, nature, camping, painting, and poetry. She was a voracious reader and always had a curious desire to expand her knowledge. As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she held numerous callings and loved the gospel.

She is survived by her sons David Mock (Patrice Arent) and Neil Mock (Elizabeth), and surrogate daughter and niece - Michelle Williams, grandchildren Noelle Mock Mauri (Manu Mauri), Erica Mock (Jules Nijimbere), Ashley Mock and Joshua Lipman, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Martin Mock, siblings Veatrice Stewart and Frank Carrel Jr., and son Kelly Mock.

The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at the Wentworth-Willow Creek for their kindness and exceptional care during Jeanne's final years.

Services will be held Thursday, July 18, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary Chapel, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah.

Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens. Please leave online condolences for the family: www.larkincares.com.
