Bernhard "Slim" Tholen, 70, widower of Olvis Virginia Tholen, 139 Shadowbrook Court, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008.

Born in Borzoria County, Texas, a son of the late Bernhard H. Tholen and Opal Haskins Tholen. He retired from Duke Energy in 1993 and served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Tholen was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Easley and Westwood Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Margaret Tholen of Six Mile, and Lester Harlow of Texas; two daughters, Susie Ellenburg and Keshia Tholen, both of Easley; a daughter-in-law, Donna Chambers of Easley; a stepsister, Lou McKendree of Pearland, Texas; grandchildren, Tony Chambers and wife, Sabrina, of Pickens, Anthony Chambers of Easley, Jenna Ellenburg Waldrop and husband, Randy, of Easley, and Chris Mashburn and Quenton Mashburn, both of Tigerville; four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Wade Chambers.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2008, in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home, with Reverend James Lester officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday prior to the service.

The family is at the residence.
