Helen Malva Baria Raines
April 17, 1931 ~ July 20, 2013

Helen Raines 81, of Hurley, MS passed away July 20, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends. Helen was born on April 17, 1932 in Jackson County, MS. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She worked at the Keesler Air Force Base and Brookley Field in Mobile.She was a member of Wade Baptist Church, the scorekeeper for the church softball league, busdriver for over 25 years for the East Central Schools. Helen will be best remembered as friend to everyone and she never met a stranger. She loved to dance and she was the self proclaimed "Mayor " of Hurley.

She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Raines, daughter-in-law Dee Raines, her parents Lamar and Lessie Baria, her brothers J.L. and Tommy Baria.

She is survived by her sons, Dean (Sandy) Raines of Woodstock GA., Steven Raines of Hurley, Gary (Beth) Raines of Hurley, her daughters, Peggy Brewer of Hurley, Sharon (Bruce) Pepper of Hurley ,Gina (Tim) Carpenter, of Wade, her daughter by choice Charmaine (Eugene) Davidson of Hurley,and her sister Hilda Saucier of Hurley.

Her grandchildren, Michael (Melissa) Finklea of Tampa,FL, Ryan (Leigh) Raines of Edgefield, S.C.,Crystal (Hector) Mendoza, of Melrose, FL, Heather (Bernie) Higginbotham, of Hurley, Kere (Misty) Raines, of Wade, Shawn Raines, of Hurley, Jacob Raines, of Hurley, Victoria Raines, of Hurley, Jordan Raines of Hurley, Haley Pepper, of Hurley, Colby Pepper, of Hurley, Peyton Pepper, of Hurley, Gabrielle Carpenter, of Wade, and Gideon Carpenter of Wade, 13 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her buddy in her later years who was her devoted friend and her favorite dance partner J.D. Smith of Barton, also numerous relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Monday July 22,2013 at Wade Baptist Church starting at 4:00 pm.Funeral service will be Tuesday July 23,2013 at 2:00pm at Wade Baptist Church with a one hour viewing prior to the service.Rev. Gene Emswiler and Rev. Everett Childers will be officiating. Burial will follow in Coleman cemetery in Hurley. Pallbearers will be Eugene Davidson, Stan Smith, Alan Sward, Gene Moody, Butch Hoard, David Larson. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
