MERLIN D. KUBICHEK

Merl D. Kubichek, age 72, of 1502 S. 10th St., Manitowoc, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, after a short illness.
According to Merl's wishes, his family gathered for a private time of remembrance, prior to cremation.
On Sept. 5, 1954, Merl married the former Helen Wienert at First Reformed United Church of Christ, Manitowoc. Merl was a former member of the United States National Guard and Army Reserve, member of Eagles Aries 706, and a life time member of Manitowoc Gun Club. He enjoyed traveling to registered trap shooting events in California, Florida, Ohio, Michigan and especially Wisconsin for the annual state shoot in Waukesha.
A private quiet man, Merl had many memories of loved ones and friends, but wanted to remember everyone as a living viable person. His family knows he had many greeters waiting for him, including his shooting and hunting pal, Dick Korlesky and his tiny companion, Chi Chi. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Park Falls and Butternut area. Merl was employed at Kelvinator for 18 years, and then at Heidens for 20 years until his retirement in 1999, where he took pride in doing distinguishing quality welding.
Survivors include his wife Helen, Manitowoc; five children: Dale and Becky Kubichek, Sidney, Ohio, Robert Kubichek, Manitowoc, Kerry and Jim Belongia, Manitowoc, Ted and Deborah Kubichek, Cary, Ill., Sandra and Craig Keil, Manitowoc; eight grandchildren, Ryan and Tim Kubichek, Erich and Brad Belongia, Tristen and McKenna Metzner-Kubichek, Aaron and Emily Suzann Keil; one great-grandchild, Zachary Tector; one sister, Verla Shepherd, New Hampshire; his constant shadow, Timer; special nephew, Donald Kubichek, DePere; many other nieces and nephews also survive. Merl was preceded in death by an infant son, Gregory; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Delbert and Marcella Kubichek, Eugene and Anne Kubichek; one brother-in-law, Kent Shepherd; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Siegried and Esther Weinert.
