LaVon Graham Carlson Born Nov. 27,1922 Denver Colorado.

LaVon and Mabel returned to Custer South Dakota where the Graham family had settled.

LaVon grew up in Custer during the depression era which brought hard times to the single parent family.

LaVon was boarded out so that her mother could take on full time jobs requiring live in responsibilities that would not accommodate a child.

LaVon concentrated on school and Graduated from Custer High School And married Howard Hall who joined the Army just prior to WW II heating up.

LaVon after seeing a paycheck of two local boys returning from California working in the shipyards realized there was a lot of money to be made in California during the war, she knew there was opportunity there that Custer could not provide.

So she and several friends loaded up an old car with what they had, which was not much and made there way to San Francisco, California.,1940,
Upon arriving she secured employment, jobs were plentiful housing was not since WW II was in demand of ships and planes the western population was descending on the western seaports where the jobs were plentiful.

After the war was over Bart and LaVon stayed in the city of alameda where he and LaVon purchased a Texaco Gas Station and Lived in Alameda.
