Mrs. Arlice Barron Bridges 89 passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Visitation is 10am Saturday at Lakewood Funeral Home, chapel services are 11am Saturday with interment to follow in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Bridges was born in Choctaw County in 1923, she was the daughter of the late Otto and Alma Barron.
She was a longtime resident of the Jackson area before moving to Pearl about 10 years ago. She was an Avon Representative for many years. Mrs. Bridges was a caring and compassionate person, faithful to visit shut-ins, active in Prison ministry where she taught many to read, taught the love of God and the Bible. She was a longtime volunteer at VA Hospital where she received service awards, she was also honored by the Exchange Club in 1998 for servitude toward her fellowman. Mrs. Bridges was a member of Skyway Hills Church of Christ, she loved to travel and took mission trips to Guyana, and Honduras. She was a friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind her children, Ken Bridges and wife Doris of Brandon, Janice White of Pearl and a foster daughter, Sarah, a brother Otto Barron of Arkansas, six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wendell Lamar Bridges, and a precious son, Wayne Bridges.
