PASSES TUESDAY AT OLEAN HOSPITAL
Was Daughter of George Lahr Sr., Civil
War Veteran And Tavern Keeper of 75 Years Ago.
Miss Martha Lahr, 80 years of age, passed away at St. Francis hospital last Tuesday evening after a long illness.
Miss Lahr was born in Allegany, in the same house on North Second in which she resided her entire life, until a week ago when she was removed to the
hospital.
She was the daughter of George Lahr, Sr., Civil War Veteran who died in 1875 at the age of 66 years. It is said of him that he was a jolly hotel keeper in the old Lahr building which still stands on North Second street, where he carried on the professions of a doctor, a barber, a dentist and even a politician.
Miss Lahr is survived by one brother, Max Lahr of Fillmore. The following sisters and brothers preceded deceased in death: George H. Lahr, Jr.,
died July 8, 1900, aged 76; Charlotte Lahr, died December 30, 1913, aged 53; Henrietta Lahr, died July 12, 1932, aged 75; Gusta E. Lahr, died August 6, 1937. aged 71, and Adela Lahr Gese, died January 2,1938, aged 76.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon (Thursday) at two o'clock at the Lennon mortuary and the remains will be laid at rest in the family plot in the Allegany cemetery. Rev. A.H. Nicholson, pastor of the Presbyterian church, will
officiate.
