Mr. Vines, a buyer for Sanger Bros. Wholesale Co., was employed by Higginbotham-Bailey Co. for 36 years. He had been a resident of Dallas since 1890.
Prominent in Dallas business groups, Mr. Vines was one of the original stockholders of the Republic National Bank when it was the Guaranty State Bank. He had been a drummer in Oklahoma Indian Territory. Survivors were his wife and daughter Mary Jo.

He was a nephew of Winship Connor, former Dallas mayor, and William Ott Connor, the first mayor of Highland Park.
