Cleon and Venna were inseparable high school sweethearts and were married in Malad in 1941. They later solemnized their marriage in the Logan LDS Temple in 1948.
Cleon would joyfully recall the simplicity of his early years on his family's farm in Deep Creek near Malad.
He enjoyed fishing, riding horses, flying and boxing. Cleon was a Golden Gloves Champion and fought in the 1939 World's Fair in San Francisco, CA.
Shortly after marrying he gave up his boxing to defend his country and was enlisted in 1942 to the 13th Armored Division during World War II. He served our country liberating towns in northern France and Germany. He was wounded in the spring of 1945 in Dunwald, Germany while liberating prison camps. He spent two and a half years in hospitals recovering from his wounds. He was honorably discharged as a Tech. Sergeant and presented with the Purple Heart.
Cleon was deputy county clerk for Oneida County, Idaho and later owned a tire shop in Long Beach, CA.
He was proud to be a member of the LDS church.
He served in many church positions and above all loved his jobs as a home teacher and greeter. He humbly and quietly served his friends and family. He was a gentleman who was an example of class, kindness and gentleness and always had smiling eyes that made all feel loved and accepted. All who knew him loved and appreciated him.
