BALASNY - BARNES-Florence, 87, passed away peacefully on March 7th at the Crest Haven Nursing Center in Cape May Court House, NJ. She was a graduate of Wildwood High School and Ryder College. Formerly a resident of Wildwood Crest, NJ and Manhattan, NY, she was a founder of the American Ceramic Arts Society and a collector of American 19th century porcelain and pottery. Florence provided many items from her collection to the American Ceramic Arts Society, Brooklyn Museum of Art, Cincinnati Art Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Ceramic Art/NY, Newark Museum of Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Smithsonian Institution. She retired in 1986 from the Charles H. Greenthal Real Estate Firm as Vice President of commercial leasing and sales. She was predeceased by her loving husband Erik Barnes, brothers, Irving Balasny and Raymond Balasny, and sisters, Ella Darivoff and Yvette Gould. She is survived by nine of her beloved nephews and nieces. Relatives and friends are invited to attend graveside services Monday at 2pm at the Beth Kehillah Cemetery, Egg Harbor Twp., NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in her memory may be made to Beth Judah Temple, Spencer and Pacific Avenues, Wildwood, NJ 08260. Services by Roth-Goldsteins' Memorial Chapel, Atlantic City, NJ.
