I met Larry only once, and his photo from that occasion appears in this memorial.
Larry Robert "Red" Deets was 69 when he passed away at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice , St Francis in Wichita. This occurred on July 30, 2013.
Larry chose to be cremated and no services were held as was his wish.
A Memorial was established at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in the name of Larry Deets.
Ray and Pearl (Supernaw) Deets were the parents of Larry who was born Nov 17, 1943 in Dexter, Kansas. He had a sibling Donald , who drowned as a child. He had a brother, Vernon whose wife was Ava, Sisters: Doris Taylor, and twin sisters : Donna Waymire, and Arlene Meece. Ray Deets was on the school board, and was the one to present each of his children with their eighth grade and high school diplomas. Larry attended Dexter school. Doris, his sister and Larry attended Cowley County Community College.
At one time Larry lived in Las Vegas, Nev, where he worked as a swimming pool technician. He was a certified plumber. Upon retirement he returned to his home of Burden. Larry was on the Burden City council, was active in the rodeo and fairgrounds.
Family members who preceded Larry in death were his daughter, Patricia Drake; brothers, Donald Deets, Vernon Deets; sisters Donna Waymire and Darlene Meece.
Survivors were his wife, Jackie and children Robert Deets, Vickie Glass and Geneva Land; Sherry Fleming, Kathie Irons, Rick, Ron, and Deborah Arthur, sister Doris Taylor, 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren.
