Haskell was the son of Stephen Girard Compton and Jennie May Salyers.

Born in Ashland, KY., Mr. Compton had been an Akron resident since 1942. He retired in 1971 from Goodyear Aerospace after many years service. He was a member of the Firestone Park United Methodist Church and the Goodyear Golden Age Club. He is survived by wife, Edna (Nahas); Gary of Baltimore, Md.; grandchildren, Steven of Vienna, Va., Dr. David of Denver, Colo., and Ronald of Baltimore; one great-grandchild; brother, Rudolf of Ft. Myers, Fla.; and sister, Louise Prestler of Columbus, OH. Memorial services Sunday, 11:30 a.m., at the Firestone Park United Methodist Church, Dr. Dennis L. Hartman officiating. There will be no calling hours. Cremation has taken place. Friends who wish may make contributions in his name to the Firestone Park United Methodist Church.
