Jesse Walker was born in Prince William Co., Va.; while living in Burke Co., North Carolina, whence he had migrated from Virginia. He enlisted and served as a private with the North Carolina Troops, in the Revolutionary War. After the war he moved to Green County, Georgia, thence to Wayne Co., Ky.; from there to Howard Co., Missouri. He came to Missouri as an old man to live with his son, Johnson, for 20 years, his wife evidently having died in Kentucky. He lived to be over 100 years old. The house in which he died still stands (1940) near New Hope Church, where the first Walkers located, and belonged to Issac Walker, son of Johnson. Rooms have been added, but the two front rooms are the original ones.

Jesse Walker married Elizabeth Granderson about 1770. They had 3 sons.

When Jesse was 100 years old, he painted his cane and went to Fayette, Mo. to vote for James K. Polk, who at that time was elected President.
Jesse at 100 years old showed the boys how to skin a cat, crippled himself and died at 102 (probably a little off on his age here).
He was supposed to have walked 2 miles at 102.
