From the history of Wapwallopen 1964 Abraham Andress family. The birth place of Abraham Andress and his wife are unknown. It is presumed that he is related to the Northampton County, Pa families of Andress-Andreas, who also were early pioneers in Luzerne County.. He settled in that part of the County, later known as Hollenback Township. He was residing there as early as 11-1-1815, on that date he and his wife Elisabeth were sponsors for the baptism of "George", son of Henry and Balle (Mary) Sorber Sies" recorded in Wapwallopen baptisms.
His name is found of the subscription list of the building committee dated 2-9,1833.He and his family attended the Reformed and Lutheran church at Wapwallopen,they are buried in the old cemetery adjacent to the church.
Letters of administration in his estate Abraham Andrews (Andress) were grunted 2-11-1862, to John Readler and P. Andrews (Andress.) At the time of his death, he owned a tract of land which he had purchased 11-3-1836 from Nathan Beach; the adjoining land owners in 1862 were Philip and Peter Meixell, Daniel Cragle, Nathan Beach, Michael Miller and Jacob Rustay. His widow, Elizabeth, petitioned the Orpan Court of Luzerne County on 2-17, 1862 for a settlement of her late husband's estate. The petition set forth that the heirs were: the widow, Elisabeth and issue four children to wit: Peter, Daniel, Sarah intermarried with John Radler, John, since deceased,leaving no widow, but leaving 7 children, to wit, Elisabeth, Mary intermarried with John continued Grotter, John, and Sarah, minors of whom Reuben Andress is guardian, Levi and William, minors of whom P>H> Good is guardian, and Jacob, a minor whom Jacob Radler is guardian"

The federal Census of 1850,Hollenbach Township lists Peter Yohe, aged 60 years in the family of Peter Andress. lll) Sarah, name given in Orphans Court petition. The census of 1850 lists her as Soloma, her tombstone has Sallome, wife of John Readler, born 11-25-1809, died 10-14-1891. Their know children were a) Michael, born 10-21-1838; b) Catherine, born 5-1-1840, c) Elisabeth born 2-1842; d) Philip,born 2-6-1844;e) Mary Anne, born 6-27-1846, married William Weiss; f) Nathan, born 3-24-1848. The chruch book of baptism records the mother's given name Sarah, four times and as Salome twice.

From Records found at The Columbia County Historical Society at the Andruss Library in Bloomsburg, Pa 17815. The latest day seems to be from the early 1900's It is on very old fragile paper. This reord has birth date 1788, age 73years 8 months 22 days.
